Revisiting - Happy Hooker Crochet with Debbie Stoller

I have quite the collection of crochet pattern books, magazines and trinkets. One of them - 'The Happy Hooker - Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet' by Debbie Stoller.

As you may know, I am on a mission to use up all the boxes of left over yarn I have. My upcoming patterns will reflect this - watch for the new Hooded Cowl pattern and I'm currently working on baby cloths - you'll love these. Anyway, I am also on a mission to clear the tons of boxes of everything I have kicking around the house. I figure these items have been packed for 5 years now - I probably don't need them.

That being said - the boxes and boxes of crochet pattern books I have are not going anywhere. While I rarely follow a pattern as I make my own, the books serve as inspiration for future projects, techniques and intriguing stitches. I have patterns dating back to the early 1900s from my great-grandmother.

Anyway - last night I ran across this book - The Happy Hooker - Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet. It made me laugh. I remember reading and leafing through the book when I first purchased it years ago -- thinking marketing genious. Since my main business is marketing - I couldn't help commend Debbie Stoller on her efforts. Her book certainly puts a different spin on crocheting. I also love it for the cowboy hat, western and equestrian crochet styles.

I am not the only one who thinks so - check out this video from Mikey at the Crochet Crowd

It's funny however - I decided to look up Debbie Stoller to see what she is up to now. I expected to find her website and a ton of information - but instead I found quite a few listings to this book and others, and her website for StitchNationyarn.com yarn, and a few articles mentioning her expertise and love for crocheting, knitting and yarn. I thought I would have found more. ...
